Allies of Lighthouse For Dreams

strategic allies

Lighthouse for Dreams draws tremendous strength from organizations that contribute resources to the program. One significant advantage of our program model is the synergy created by combining the unique contributions of various organizations.

For example, the program is administered through the Department of Finance at the University of Central Florida, which houses the program and provides most of the administrative resources needed to keep the program running. The educational materials are provided free of cost through the National Endowment for Financial Education, significantly reducing program costs.

Lighthouse for Dreams has also developed a strategic alliance with the University of Florida’s Cooperative Extension Service in Orange County. The Cooperative Extension Service assists Lighthouse for Dreams by conducting introductory sessions for potential volunteers, training student teachers, offering classroom space to teach financial literacy sessions, and utilizing the Lighthouse for Dreams volunteer base to provide financial education as part of the Orange County 4-H In the Classroom and 4-H After School Programs.

As the program expands, we hope to form new strategic alliances with organizations whose skills and resources complement our own. The long-term program goal is to incorporate additional strategic allies into the program, creating a statewide financial literacy initiative. Ultimately, we intend to see Florida emerge as nationally-recognized leadership state in the field of financial education. Those interested in forming a strategic alliance with Lighthouse for Dreams are encouraged to email program director, Lalita Booth, at allies@lighthousefordreams.org.
