Volunteer: Lighthouse For Dreams

Student Volunteers

Many of our volunteers are students of Florida state universities or private colleges. Volunteering with Lighthouse for Dreams provides students with the opportunity to engage in a unique service-learning experience. Student volunteers benefit from involvement by building valuable professional skills and demonstrating the personal qualities that employers look for, such as integrity, initiative, and leadership. Furthermore, volunteer opportunities are designed to be fun and flexible. Our student teachers take assignments on a lesson-by-lesson basis, and are never obligated to accept teaching assignments that conflict with their school or work schedules.

Each student instructor is provided with training, ongoing support, and all the materials necessary to teach each session. Students may also teach in pairs or with a volunteer from the business community. This helps to ensure that teaching engagements are fun, educational, and comfortable.
Those interested in learning more about the volunteer opportunities offered through Lighthouse for Dreams are encouraged to email the Program Director, Lalita Booth, at volunteer@lighthousefordreams.org.
